"Dr. G's" Lasagna

You Need:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/3 cup chopped onions
  • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 12 oz tomato paste
  • 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp oregano leaves
  • Lasagna noodles
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese; shredded
  • 8 oz cheese of your choice (cheddar, colby jack...); shredded
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 lb/15oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg

To Do:
  • In large frying pan, brown beef and onions. Add water, tomato ingredients, salt, sugar, garlic, pepper, and oregano
  • Simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes
  • Meanwhile, cook enough lasagna noodles to make two layers for your pan
  • Mix ricotta, mozzarella, other cheese (Except parmesan) and egg
  • In 9X13 pan spread about 1 cup of sauce (enough to cover the bottom of pan). Then place a layer of lasagna noodles, cover with sauce, spread the cheese mixture, then cover with lasagna noodles. Cover with sauce then sprinkle with parmesan cheese
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes until top is lightly brown and bubbling
