12 months!

mr ben is officially 1 year old. wow. what the heck happened here. i just had a baby right?

as the mean mom that i am, i made his 12 month appointment on his birthday. i know. shots on his birthday. who am i? cruella deville? i did at least ask them to delay one of the three, so he did only get 2. happy birthday ben.

i am sad i left his sticker there that has his stats, but i remember the percentiles. i will be sure to get another when we go back of course. but as for now:

12 month stats

Height: 90th percentile

Weight: 50th percentile

Head: 90th percentile

some of his new and/or improved tricks include:

• crawling/cruising: he is FAST when he is crawling. i have to run to catch him sometimes. it's so funny to think of when he first started moving it was slower than a slug. he is also cruising along the furniture and even will take a step or two in between the couch and ottoman as he dives for it. little daredevil... that might cause some broken bones in the future. oh being the mom of a boy. i don't think walking is too far away for this little guy.

• clapping: i love this. when he first learned he did it ALL the time. it was fantastic. he thought it was great, and so did i. i still do. no other child claps like mine ;)

• picking his nose: yea. apparently he's found that his pointer finger fights right in there quite nicely. he even managed a booger once. lovely

• high five: newest trick i believe . he loves this. he even initiates it now.

• defiance/tantrums: oh goodness. he is a strong willed child. i know that. if he doesn't want something/or wants it he will scream and throw his head backwards and stiffen and the whole shebang. he will also do things he knows he shouldn't. he knows "No", but will blatantly disobey. i am not looking forward to this whole disciplining thing.

• opening drawers/cabinets: he likes to play in drawers a lot and pull everything out of them. clothes, pans, tupperware. he is learning to open the cabinets as well.

and now we begin the 2nd year of his life. even though he's 1. i still think babies should be considered 9 or 10 months when they are born. but i digress.... Ben, happy birthday again. you rule.
