and then it monsoons

woke up yesterday morning to go to work with the new battery in my car. no big deal. joey decided he would go make sure it started, which i greatly appreciated... and then he decided to try to fix the radio that apparently was disconnected during the battery exchange. boys don't read directions. blanket fact. i take that back- kind of. they read directions AFTER THE FACT. it's just a part of their human makeup i guess. something i am going to need to learn to deal with... but this first time around, i wasn't dealing well.

needless to say due to the "anti-theft" device, if you try too many times- incorrectly, the radio locks on you and you can't try to fix it again for an hour. did i mention my commute to work is an hour? so yes. i had to drive to work for an hour with nothing. no music. no radio. at that point i would've listened to static...but nothing. silence. it was great. 

so before i leave joey yells up to me - you have to keep the car on for an hour and then call me. so i think. fine. so after my hour commute i call him. he said he would tell me how to fix it. however, he forgot to mention the actual radio had to be turned "on" for an hour and THEN the word "Code" would appear. but b/c the word "ERROR" was still reading, it hadn't been on long enough. so i was, to put it nicely, slightly annoyed. so i left my car in the parking lot with my key turned in the ignition. at that point. i hoped someone would steal it... i just wanted music.

to make a long story even longer, after an hour i go down to find the word "Code" reading across my radio- thank you lord!! so what do i have to do then? Follow the directions and get the serial number of my radio. okay. done. now i have to call the honda place to get the "Code" to enter. ok... 

nope. wouldn't give me the code. why?? b/c the point of this code in the first place is anti-theft. and b/c i didn't buy the car at the dealership (carmax car) and haven't ever used them for service (joey does it all) they needed my "proof of purchase". as if a thief is going to call for the stinkin code. and what is the point anyway- this may prevent the thief from using the radio after it's stolen, but it isn't like they are going to return it to it's owner b/c they can't get it to work. worthless anti theft system.

so they tell me i have to drive there to show my "proof of ownership". so five minutes later i call to ask if i can just fax a copy of my registration- i am talking to a different honda man now. and he pretty much just says we need the serial number- i said. i have it. he asks what it is. and he gives me the CODE. thank you mr. honda man. for completely disregarding the point of the anti-theft system.
