for valentines day weekend joey took me to New York City. now this is big news for a couple reasons. 1) i have never been to NYC and have been wanting to go for as long as i can remember and 2) joey hates crowds... he is more of a middle of no where type of person :) so when he told me we were going to NYC for 3 days 2 nights i was so excited... here is a small glimpse into my excitement in the back of the cab on our way to the hotel:
we left on friday february 13th.. which is probably why the airport was empty but our plane was still delayed 2 hours... and arrived friday night. we stayed in the Crowne Plaza in Times Square - which was really nice and had great service. we spent the first evening wandering around Times Square looking for a 'hole in the wall' place to eat dinner. we chose "Haru":
(i took a picture of everywhere we ate... that i liked). and this was the most amazing sushi both Joey and I EVER had. it was amazing. we had to make ourself not eat there again so we could try other places.. but we'll have to go back... it was just too good.
the next morning we got up really excited to find another random/good place to eat. and we succeeded again- i think eating was one of our favorite things:
this was a little french bistro. i just had eggs/ham/hashbrowns/toast - but it was really, really good. Joey got lox on a bagel - classic NY and he loved it. so afterwards we decided to explore NYC... we walked everywhere.. so distance wise didn't get too far, just in times square on broadway were some fun stores (M&M Store- which we saw friday night; and Toys R Us which had a life size barbie dream house and ferris wheel.)

then we wandered down to central park through the diamond district:
and through the theater district... and my favorite store was probably the NBC store... not sure why- probably because of all the memorabilia from the office:
we also saw the Disney store which was awesome as well and had CInderella and Prince Charming in there you can take your picture with... which i obviously would've if it didn't cost $20. we saw the ice rink, rockefeller plaza, the trump tower and all of it... it was so fun. and after all that walking we were so stinkin' tired we had to go back to the hotel and nap before dinner. dinner at the hotel wasn't great- not the favorite part of the trip... skip to next day...
we had a early lunch at Havana a Cuban restaurant. it was good, we each got a grilled chicken cuban sandwich but were in a hurry to see THE LION KING on broadway. it was AMAZING. i was so excited. if you know me you know i love disney anything and everything but especially disney movies.. and this made my life.. it was awesome i recommend everyone seeing if... so good
after The Lion King, we had only a couple more hours in NYC and one more goal- to eat in a 'hole in the wall' but great pizzeria.. done:
it was on the corner 44th and 8th i believe and great. you walked in and it was pretty big and pretty packed at 4:30 when we got there to eat and got so busy we were pushing out way out at 5:45. we had to eat early to catch our flight back to DC and were very sad to leave... but are definitely going back. it was one of the best, if not best, mini vacations/ long weekends i've ever had.
as the t-shirts say "I love New York"
ps didn't do any shopping except getting about 4 of those $5 scarves and my awesome $10 street hat - amazing.
um....yeah, i'm gonna have to take you back to NYC so that we can SHOP. soho has the best shopping in the world! :) i'm so glad you guys had a great time. it is the best city ever.
