duke dog for president

i can't imagine life without my jmu family. this past weekend i went to jmu's homecoming 2008. i can't believe it's been over 2 years since i have graduated college! i can't believe it's been over 2 years since i have been able to see my girls, my best friends, on a day to day basis... homecoming is so bittersweet. i love going back and remembering college and the late nights (which i have learned i am not so much accustomed to anymore), the bonfires, crusade, the halloween parties, the tin roof, narnia, the whitehouse, pranks, reddish knob, big break, christmas conference, fall retreat- friendship. fellowship. but i hate leaving it all back there too.
don't get me wrong, i am blessed to be living in a house in northern virginia with my wonderful husband, and even not too far (45 min...) from some of these ladies. but i was oh so spoiled in college. i lived with and not far from AMAZING women. women who followed after christ and lived a different life.  they taught me things and grew with me, especially over the last two years of school. most of all, they were there for me like no one has ever been there for me.  They listened to me cry, they gave advice, they prayed for me, they picked me up and built me up, and made me a better person and a better friend. They are the most selfless people i know. it is honestly so hard to describe how amazing these women are and how incredibly blessed i was/am to have them in my life.  i miss them terribly! they are my best friends. and this is why it's so hard to go back. because i know college is different, and i will never have that again. at least in that way.... if i had my way, we would all live in the same town, on the same street...

anyway. i hope you get the point of how thankful i am for these ladies... back to the weekend. it was a blast! JMU has a type of school pride that other schools talk about and envy. it's great. our football team isn't in the "big leagues" although we are good, and we STILL love our school. it isn't based on being ivy league, or having a good football team.. it's based on the people and the school atmosphere itself.  we just love jmu- because it's great. and that pride sticks with a duke their whole life... as demonstrated by the thousands of people at jmu's homecoming this year.

after tailgating, we went to the game (we won!), and then had a bonfire. The bonfire was in a place where we would always go. it is also the place were joey proposed to me. so lots of memories here.  the whole weekend was great. i can't ask for more.
