prague...day 2, 3, 4, and 5....

welp. life is busy. but i want to finish my trip blogging so:

day 2
we woke up and grabbed breakfast... which i dont know if i mentioned before but wasn't the biggest fan of at this hotel.. but it was OK. i mean they had these like hot dog like things that i liked.. b/c well i love hot dogs.. they were mini and good.

we signed up for a tour of prague for day 2 and drove around for 2 hours to see lots and lots of prague. our guide was speaking english and german for the people, and she was pretty hard to understand unfortunately.. b/c some of the stuff she did say that i could understand was interesting. The end of the tour was at a Monastery where you can look out over prague and it was beautiful.

we were dropped off in old town square where the astronomical clock is and we walked down the 5th ave of prague and then hopped into a coffee shop to warm up- it was about 36 degrees and windy and just plain cold. After relaxing in the coffee shop we headed back to rest, change and bundle for a long walk to a mexican restaurant: Cantina. it was coldddd... katie and i wore our fleeces under our heavy coats. brr. the mexican was good... very tame and non-mexicany. but good... then the adventure began.

We left the restaurant to head back to the hotel.. it was raining/sleeting so we were walking really fast and somehow ended up walking waaaaay too far and got semi lost. It was a cold adventure... if we hadn't gotten lostish we wouldn't have found this little coffee shop that had great hot chocolate. it tasted like straight melted chocolate. yum. but rich. it had nice couches and was a nice place to rest after our massive walk. and we did eventually make it back to the hotel.

day 3

we toured Karlstejin castle day three. It is about 40km outside of prague so we took a little tour bus and parked at the bottom and had to hike up to the castle. it was awesome. it was a castle that held the crown jewls and Charles IV lived there for a bit too. He was tiny. like the James Madison statue at  JMU... weird how men were so little back in the day. but i digress.

it was beautiful. beautiful and FREEZING. It was the coldest i think i have ever been. it hurt i was so cold. but it was worth it. the castle was awesome. and you can see the countryside of prague. the whole trip was about 5 hours once we were dropped off we ran to TGI Fridays (ha. again). b/c we were sooo hungry. for a snack before dinner. just an easy place to stop.

we de-thawed at the hotel for a bit. i was so cold i had to get a really hot shower in order to bring my body temp back up.. and then slept for 1. 5 hours... i started to get used to and love naps. i miss them.

for dinner we went to a Greek restaurant "Como". I am not a big fan of greek food, but they did have some really good shrimp tempura. and the atmosphere was awesome. oh and of course coke with lots of ice. yessss. they also had a really good poppy seed creme brulee for dessert. yum.

After dinner we wandered around both Wenceslas square and old town square to look at the old buildings and castle like architecture at night. everything closes at 9pm so we just walked. It was a nice relaxing evening.

day 4

shopping day! this day was fun b/c we had seen a lot of prague so felt like we were just hanging out in prague as if we were living there. it also was a tad warmer so that was nice too. after shopping around for awhile we went to a pizza place for lunch. it was good, but not as good as the first place in prague. it was just really really smokey so that probably didn't help.  again, it seems like everyone in prague smokes.. and with no age limit. i mean i seriously think i saw 12 year olds smoking.

after lunch we split up and joey and i went shopping for a bit. then went to starbucks grabbed some drinks (i got caramel hot chocolate- aaaamazing), and hung out and relaxed.

for dinner we went to a cool underground restaurant. (in my journal i wrote: billy k(something)). I got this fettucine with tiger prawns in hollandaise sauce with veggies... it was amazing.  then we had this pancake jam (like a crepe) dessert.. which was really really good too. other than the pizza- it was by far my fav. food. There was a live jazz/blue band which made the atmosphere cool too. It had a castle feel being underground...

last day...

another relaxing morning we slept in until 10, had breakfast, got ready and shopped a bit more in the morning. we ate lunch at another pizza place- i liked this place more than day 4's but not as much as day 1s.

our last day was sunny and beautiful! this was great to be able to really enjoy the city without being cold. so we walked across the charles bridge toward prague castle. the view was great of both side of prague and the water. we headed toward the lesser town (around the castle) and saw the john lennon wall which was awesome.

we then headed toward the castle which was all uphill and up a ton of stairs which makes sense since the castle sits on a hill above the rest of the city. however it was tiring doing all that walking but the view was amazing. prague castle was beautiful too. It is surrounded by newer buildings but still neat... and huge. After walking around the castle we headed the miles back to the hotel.

we changed for dinner and headed right back to lesser town for dinner. walked back across the charles bridge and uphill to "Cowboys" the steak restaurant we picked out for that night. it was also underground with a cool atmosphere. i think the seats we were sitting on were seriously like cow skin/hair.. it was odd. but neat. the food was OK, but we didn't get steak.

oh the way home my knee started to hurt with all the walking. i hurt it awhile ago in soccer and it started throbbing i had to limp... i am glad it only did that on the last day. joey bought me a cute pair of earrings on the way back to the hotel :) it was out last day and i was sad. i loved it.

wow. im proud i just did all that. pat on my back.

and #1 recommendation: go to Prague!!
