Wiegolds in Wisconsin

At the end of September the Wiegold family took a little vacation to the state of cheese. yes that is wisconsin. Joey's grandparent's have a little cabin in the woods, and yes i mean WOODS, of wisconsin. it is a little. quaint place, in the middle of 80 acres with a lake and beautiful scenery. although i am much more of a beach girl, i love all aspect's of God's creation and oh is there beauty in this world. of course this natural beauty hasn't been touched by man.

We took a couple days off work and flew out to this northern state. Specifically we were in "Ogema" WI. It is a one bedroom, one bathroom cabin with 7 people and a dog. needless to say, it was cozy. We went hiking, fishing, shooting and overall enjoyed the beautiful outdoors when the weather was nice. When it wasn't so nice KT and I stayed inside and did crosswords, watch disney movies, and played games. One morning we ventured into "town" for the "parade", and i use that phrase loosely. One night we had a fire and made s'mores... it was tons of fun and a great get away from all that is northern virginia.

to highlight some of my favorite memories:

1. on one of the flights to WI KT, jaye and I heard this like... hacking noise... at least that's what i thought it sounded like. and of course this was the time of everyone freaking out about flying and the swine flu.. well it was a swine. a little kid was trying to make "pig noises" hilarious.

2. muffin. the grandparents dog is a little bichon shih tzu loves to stalk squirrels and chipmunks. and by stalk i mean take 5 min and slowly creep... like a lion. but she's a 10 pound dog. funny. and cute.

3. grandma's food. yum. butternut squash, fresh grown tomatoes, strawberry rhubarb

4. the fact that joey actually wanted to and volunteered to PLAY A GAME. this game is called marbles. it's really fun and joey actually enjoyed it. it was GREAT and a first.

5. fishing. i caught 5 fish. NBD

6. the Ogema town 'parade'. wow. it was great. the floats were made of tractors, semis, riding lawn mowers... it finished with santa and mrs clause (yes this was SEPTEMBER) in the back of a pick up truck... mrs claus CHUCKED candy at KT and i. so much so we had to take cover.

7. completing a crossword without cheating and looking at the back. this is a first. i mean, these crosswords must have been the easiest possible, but still.

8. secretly adding sugar to joey's coffee throughout dessert, and him not noticing. OH and the banana cream pie. yum. homemade food.

9. i wasn't here for this one... but apparently on a trail Joey plunged through a sinkhole in the ground. he caught himself on a tree, but had no idea how long the hole of water went down. he was muddy and dirty when he came back. funny thing... this has happened to someone before and they CONTINUE to take people on this trail. ha.

10. the fact that EVERY TIME. someone was not in the main room of the cabin, mr. wiegold would say "Where's _____". now. there is only ONE place that person would be most of the time.... the bathroom. I was a little nervous about sharing a bathroom with 7 people as it was. but it was funny that it was basically announced every time anyone was in the bathroom.


i was a little worried about going to a small cabin. with 7 people. 1 bedroom. 1 bathroom. bugs. and cold. but it was great. i loved it. and i would definitely go back.
